MCES Library
Mission Statement
The Midland City Elementary School library is a welcoming and inclusive learning hub dedicated to fostering a lifelong love of reading, curiosity, and discovery in every student. Aligned with the State of Alabama’s vision to be at the center of teaching and learning, our library provides equitable access to a rich and diverse collection of resources that support literacy development, academic growth, and personal enrichment.
In collaboration with teachers, families, and the broader school community, we design and deliver engaging experiences that build essential literacy, research, and critical thinking skills – empowering students to become confident, ethical users of information and technology. By nurturing curiosity, encouraging inquiry, and guiding students in the effective evaluation and use of ideas, our library supports students in reaching their highest potential and prepares them for success in college, career, and life.
We are committed to cultivating a safe and supportive environment where every learner feels valued, inspired, and equipped to explore new ideas, embrace diverse perspectives, and grow as enthusiastic readers, thoughtful researchers and responsible digital citizens.
